Service Learning Apostolate

✝️ Faith in action.

The Service Learning Apostolate (SLA and formerly called Christian Service Learning) is a cornerstone of spiritual formation at SPX. Students are called to live the Gospel by serving others with intention, humility, and purpose.

Program Highlights:

  • Begins junior year and continues through senior year
  • Minimum of 100 service hours with reflection components
  • Community partnerships with parishes, schools, shelters, and non-profits
  • Students track hours and submit reflections via the SLA Portal

By graduation, every Panther will have made a real impact – not just for the sake of service hours, but to answer a deeper call to justice and compassion.

All-school Mass in the auditorium

At St. Pius X High School, faith is not an add-on, it’s the foundation. Inspired by the Four Pillars of the Dominican charism (Prayer, Study, Community, and Preaching), we invite every student to grow in personal spirituality while building a vibrant, mission-driven life in Christ.

Class Retreats

Time to reflect. Space to grow.

Each year, SPX students step away from the daily routine to participate in a class retreat – an intentional experience designed to foster spiritual growth, deepen relationships, and strengthen community.

Rooted in Dominican tradition, retreats offer students the opportunity to slow down, listen for God’s voice, and explore how they are called to live their faith with purpose.

Why Retreat?

  • Create distance from academic and social pressures
  • Reflect on your relationship with God, self, and others
  • Pray, listen, share, and build authentic community
  • Experience spiritual renewal and peer connection

Whether it's a freshman’s first introduction to faith at SPX or a senior’s final reflection before graduation, each retreat is uniquely crafted to meet students where they are – and to help them grow in grace. Each grade-level retreat includes a day of community service to build students into missionary disciples.
