Scholarships: Directly Impacting Student Lives

Your gift to a scholarship fund directly supports students at SPX by making a Catholic education accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to attend. Scholarships reduce the financial burden on families and allow students to experience the life-changing benefits of an SPX education.

How It Works: Donations can be made to existing scholarships or to create a new scholarship in honor of someone.

At St. Pius X High School, we offer a special opportunity for you to honor the memory of a loved one or celebrate someone significant in your life through unrestricted donations. These gifts ensure that their legacy lives on at SPX, while supporting the continued excellence of our academic, athletic, and spiritual programs.

In Memory of a Loved One: Donations made in memory of a loved one help sustain the mission of SPX while paying tribute to their life and impact. These gifts can support the SPX Fund, scholarships, or other critical areas that align with the school’s needs.
In Honor of Someone Special: Gifts made in honor of a birthday, anniversary, or significant milestone create a lasting legacy. These donations reflect your gratitude while benefiting students and programs at SPX.
Recognition: All donations made in honor or memory of someone will be acknowledged with a special note to the recipient’s family, and their name will be included in our honor roll of donors.

Sign up: Create a Kroger Digital Account at www.kroger.com or via the mobile app.
Enroll: Select St. Pius X High School or use NPO number FC398 to designate the school as your supported organization.
Track: View your quarterly donation total on your digital account.

Scholarships and Endowments

Angelo Palazzolo '70 Memorial Scholarship

The Angelo Palazzolo '70 Memorial Scholarship was created by a gift to the SPX general scholarship fund from the estate of Angelo Palazzolo '70. It was the wish of the Palazzolo family that the scholarship recipients be St. Pius X students whose history and background reflect Angelo's own: children of middle-class families sacrificing to provide a Catholic education. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 2005 to rising juniors and seniors. Scholarship winners are chosen by a committee of members of the SPX administrative team and counseling office.

Jacqueline Lee Jordan Memorial Scholarship

The Jacqueline Lee Jordan Memorial Scholarship is offered to a qualified 8th grade student at St. Edward Catholic School who reflects the values, interests, and academic career of Jacqueline Lee Jordan and has applied for admission to St. Pius X High School for the coming academic year. This is a one-time, $1,500 scholarship.

Jacqueline Lee Jordan was a multi-talented student who had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Her life reflected a deep faith as seen in her involvement at her home parish of St. Edward and at St. Pius X High School. Jackie was an altar server, choir member and substitute accompanist during Sunday liturgies. As a freshman at SPX, Jackie earned straight A's in her Honors classes and was actively involved in many extracurriculars, including Choir, Band, Theatre SPX, as well as the Art, Anime, Culture, and Culinary Clubs. Most of all, Jackie's love for the sciences was enhanced in the Science Club and fed her thirst to be a paleontologist.

Students may apply for the Jacqueline Lee Jordan Memorial Scholarship by the Advancement Office advancement@stpiusx.org.

John T. McMahon Teaching Chair

The John T. McMahon Teaching Chair was established in 2007 to honor Mr. John T. McMahon and provide a permanent symbol of his impact as a teacher. It is granted annually to a current teacher at St. Pius X who, like Mr. McMahon, teaches beyond the curriculum and helps form those values in students which prepare them for life beyond their formal educations. Since its inception, the McMahon Teacher Chair has been awarded to eight members of the SPX faculty. The 2021 recipient was Sr. Kelly Biddle.

Torchbearer Society

The Torchbearer Society recognizes benefactors who provide for the future of St. Pius X High School by designating the school as the beneficiary of their assets. These gifts ensure our Dominican mission and educational excellence continue for generations to come.

Leaders in Veritas (LIV)

The Leaders in Veritas (LIV) category was formed in the fall of 2012 to recognize St. Pius X High School community members whose gifts to the SPX Fund and annual giving efforts provide a foundation for the school’s long-term financial stability. This dedicated group plays a key role in advancing our mission and ensuring the continued excellence of SPX.

Minimum Annual Fund Donation: $5,000
LIV members are critical partners in securing the future of SPX, making a lasting impact on academic programs, scholarships, and more.
