Building on the Dreams of Our Community
Our community dreams of a school where students are challenged academically, their spiritual growth is nurtured, and their talents are cultivated. This growth takes place in state-of-the-art classrooms and new science labs, an expanded Learning Center, and a new media and resource center that replaces an outdated library.
Building Scientific Minds
Building scientific minds requires expanded class offerings, innovative teaching, and effective learning environments. The $9.1 million, 27,000-square-foot Center for the Sciences and Media currently under construction turns these dreams into reality.
The Center for the Sciences and Media is designed in harmony with our mid-century, modern architecture. Similar to new science buildings found on college and university campuses, it anchors the West Campus. Key elements include:
- 6 lab and lecture classrooms and 1 multi-purpose classroom
- A roof-top garden
- State-of-the-art Media and Resource Center
- Additional administrative offices and meeting spaces
- Enhanced plaza seating for outdoor learning and community gathering
Building on Faith, Building for the Future
During the past few months the dreams of the St. Pius X community have come vividly to life, as the Center for the Sciences and Media has risen from its concrete foundation. The steel is set, the infrastructure in place, the roof is being completed and soon a brick façade will cover the walls.
The work of the contractors is steadily progressing, but our fundraising work is not yet complete. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have raised $7.1 million toward our goal of $9.1 million. With continued faith, we remain focused on raising the final $2 million in order to reach our project goal.
In order to leverage the current building environment and school schedule, the Board authorized construction to begin in September 2015, as favorable short term financing is now in place to cover anticipated construction expenses ahead of projected pledge payments. It is time to build upon this leap of faith. Together, we can Set the World Ablaze.
