Athletics Onboarding
This year all parents and student-athletes are required to watch the brand new  Athletics Onboarding  2020-2021 video!  This video is about 20 minutes long and can be viewed in the SPX student portal.  It will provide a brief overview of everything SPX Athletics and will highlight athletics policies and procedures.

Athlete Registration
All student-athletes are required to register via Rank One prior to participation.  The registration process is explained in the Athletics Onboarding (2020-2021).  The link to the registration can also be accessed in the SPX student portal - Athlete Registration (Rank One)

Athletic Physical and Medical History Form
This form is also located in the SPX student portal.  It needs to be downloaded, completed by a doctor, and submitted to our Athletic Trainer,  Jeremy Kallus,  prior to participation.

Transfer / International Student-Athletes
If you are a transfer or an international student-athlete, please bure sure to notify your head coach and Assistant Athletic Director, Erin Vanwassenhove.  There is specialized paperwork that needs to be completed in order to become eligible.

The COVID-19 protocols we are adhering to for athletes are in accordance with TAPPS regulations and mirror the school guidelines. There are, however, a few points of emphasis:

  • As we approach the hybrid phase of learning, athletes arriving in the afternoon for practice only, will adhere to the same screening process as students who arrived on-campus in the morning for in-person instruction.

Activity Guidelines

  • Coaches are required to wear a mask at all times (indoor and outdoor).

  • When engaged in physical activity (i.e. practice), wearing a mask is optional for athletes.

  • During team meetings, a mask is required for all athletes.

  • When not directly participating in practices or contests, care will be taken to maintain a minimum distance of six feet between each individual.

  • Prior to an individual or groups of individuals entering a facility, coaches will ensure hard surfaces within that facility are wiped down and sanitized (chairs, furniture in meeting rooms, locker rooms, weight room equipment, bathrooms, athletic training room tables, etc.).

  • Coaches will ensure weight equipment will be wiped down thoroughly before and after an individual’s use of equipment.

  • During physical activity, there will be no shared athletic towels, clothing, or shoes between students. Students should wear their own appropriate workout clothing and never share clothing. Their clothing and towels should be washed and cleaned after every workout.

  • All students may bring their own water bottle that must not be shared with others.

  • Hand sanitizer or hand washing stations will be available at all practices and contests.

  • Athletic equipment such as bats, batting helmets and catcher's gear will be cleaned often. This also includes periodically wiping down the softball, baseball, football, etc.

  • Other equipment, such as, football helmets/other pads, lacrosse helmets/pads/gloves/eyewear should be worn by only one individual and not shared.

  • St. Pius X is planning on providing transportation for athletes to and from games.

  • Masks will always be required to be worn.

  • Practice - Presently, no visitors are allowed inside the building.  Parents arriving to pick-up their athletes are highly encouraged to remain in their car at all times.  Should you exit your car, you will be required to wear a mask and maintain appropriate social distancing at all times.

  • Games - At this time, we are planning to allow spectators at games.  With that said, there will be population restrictions and other guidelines that are forthcoming.  Specified details will be provided prior to the sport’s first game.

Visiting Teams

Per TAPPS guidelines, all teams are required to attest to the following:

  • All coaches and team personnel involved in the contest have affirmed that they meet the COVID self-screening conditions required to participate.

  • All team members involved in the contest have affirmed today that they meet the COVID self-screening conditions required to participate.

Officials/Game Personnel

  • Per TAPPS guidelines, all officials/game personnel are required to self-screen.

Letterman Jacket Fittings
Spring 2020 Athletes – If you qualified for a letter jacket, we are currently coordinating a jacket fitting to take place at SPX.  Once more details become available, we will be sure to communicate that information.

Welcome New Girls Soccer Head Coach
This season, we have the pleasure of welcoming new girls soccer head coach, Laura Flores. Coach Flores is no stranger to the program as she served as a volunteer coach throughout the 2019-20 campaign.

Flores has played soccer since the age of six, earning three state-winning seasons in high school, then taking her skills to the college level.

"I am very excited to be SPX's girls soccer coach because I have a great passion for the game," Coach shared.

Welcome aboard, Coach Flores!
