Learning in a Digital World

Each SPX student receives a school-issued academic device as part of our digital learning model. Devices are distributed during summer school or on the first day of school, with setup assistance from our IT team. These devices are used in the classroom at the discretion of each teacher and are fully integrated with campus systems for a streamlined experience.

Students receive:

  • Access to a SPX-managed Dynabook or equivalent
  • MySchoolApp login credentials for campus portal access
  • SPX email account for coursework and school communication
  • Single sign-on for digital textbooks and classroom tools

IT support is available throughout the year to assist with connectivity, setup or account issues. New students attending summer sessions receive a temporary device, with permanent devices distributed in August.

Extending the School Yard

Learning doesn't stop at the classroom door. St. Pius X High School extends academic access beyond campus through a full suite of digital tools. Every student receives:

  • Microsoft Office 365 access, including email, cloud storage, and collaborative tools.
  • Desktop downloads of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • MySchoolApp portal access for schedules, grades, resources, and assignments.
  • Digital course materials available 24/7 from school-issued devices.

This seamless integration supports learning at home, on campus, or wherever Panthers are logging in – ensuring that students stay connected and empowered throughout the school year.

Academics

Use of all SPX technology resources – including student devices and campus Wi-Fi – is a privilege. Students are expected to follow responsible use guidelines and uphold community standards at all times. The school reserves the right to monitor activity on its network and may revoke access in cases of misuse. A copy of the Acceptable Use Policy is included the Handbook.

Tools and Resources

Built-in support for student learning. Our secure campus-wide network supports both wired and wireless access, allowing students to:

  • Complete coursework online
  • Conduct academic research
  • Communicate with teachers via school email
  • Access classroom materials and grade reports

All academic content is accessed through the MySchoolApp portal, with links to digital textbooks, syllabi and assignment platforms integrated by course.

Personal Device Policy

To promote engagement, social well-being, and instructional focus, personal electronic devices are not permitted during the school day (8 a.m.–3:10 p.m.). Students must store phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and laptops in lockers or backpacks before school begins.

Why this matters:

  • Supports a distraction-free learning environment
  • Reduces social media conflict during the day
  • Fosters real-world communication and collaboration

Students have access to a phone at the front office if needed, and families may contact the school directly in case of emergencies.

Violations of the "focused minds, stronger community" policy result in disciplinary action.

Technology with Purpose

At St. Pius X, technology isn’t just a tool, it’s a bridge to deeper learning, real-world skills, and personalized academic growth. Every device, system, and policy is designed to support our mission of excellence in StudyCommunity, and Innovation.
