We maintain two groups that help students to adjust to their new high school life and to help each other within cousenling supervision.
Making the Transition
Counselors meet with 9th graders in small groups throughout the academic year. The lunchtime meetings help us get to know our students as they transition into high school. Topics discussed include:
- how to communicate with your teacher
- maintaining your grades
- developing study skills
- balancing extra-curricular involvement
Counselors also have a couple lunch meetings with upper-level transfer students.
Our guidance couseling office offers a peer counseling group two Fridays each month. Students can discuss current issues in a non-threatening and supervised environment. Attendance is optional.
