Health Screening Questionnaire & Waivers
All attendees are required to provide both a liability waiver and health screening questionnaire to attend the graduation ceremony. Below is the health questionnaire that each person in attendance must complete (parent complete for those under 18-years-old), a waiver form specific for the graduate and a waiver form for the graduate's guests.
Please understand that the graduate liability waiver requires a parent/guardian signature in addition to the graduate's (regardless of age). If the graduate does not have this completed form, he/she will not be able to enter the venue until a parent/guardian arrives to sign the form. Please be sure to print, sign and bring this form with the graduate at the appropriate arrival time.
Anyone who doesn't have a waiver and questionnaire completed at arrival, will be subject to complete the form and a temperature check. Those who refuse to complete the forms will not be allowed into the venue.
Graduation Ceremony and Prayer Service
Graduation
Saturday, May 23, 2020 (7:30 p.m.)
7:30 p.m. - arrival time
8:30 p.m. - presentation begins
The Showboat Drive-In 22422 Farm to Market 2920, Hockley, TX 77447
We have been told that cars will be allowed to idle at the drive-in, so you will have access to air conditioning during the ceremony.
Parking passes will be distributed on Friday, May 8 between 7:30 and 8:30 pm at the Panthers Roar Through 2020 celebration event.
Announcement Insertion
The pandemic has required a major change to graduation and who you can invite to attend. But we know you still want to send out the graduation invitations you purchased, so we created an insertion that you can print, cut and include with your invitation to let loved ones know about these changes. This will encourage them to celebrate with you in spirit on the day of graduation since they can't join you in person.
St. Pius X School Board policy requires that all tuition, fees, and other charges be paid in full before attending graduation. All course requirements must be fulfilled prior to graduation. Students not fulfilling graduation requirements, including the required credits and service work will not be permitted to participate in graduation ceremonies.
Number of Attendees
In accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines and in consultation with the Harris County Health Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Department, St. Pius X High School must limit each vehicle to a maximum of six (6) people. This number includes children.
Any vehicle with more than six people (including children) will not be allowed into the venue.
Because of Texas Education Agency regulations, seniors are only allowed two cars. No additional cars can be admitted despite family requests.
Inclement Weather
the venue is an outside drive-in with gravel/dirt paths, we highly recommend students bring rain boots or comfortable shoes that can get wet and/or dirty just in case they are needed.
Should the weather be too severe to continue with the ceremony as planned, SPX will notify student and parents the day of the ceremony via email and reschedule the graduation ceremony for May 31 at the same location and time. We will only reschedule the ceremony in the most extreme of cases.
Decorate Your Car
Graduation Reminder
Decorum
A St. Pius X High School graduation ceremony has an expected level of decorum and respect. No air horns, bells, whistles yelling or other noise makers are permitted during the graduation ceremony. This event should be treated with the utmost reverence it deserves. Vehicular behavior is expected to remain at a respectable level. This means honking, revving engines, peeling out or other misbehavior will not be tolerated.
Viewing
The ceremony will be broadcast on the drive-in theater's large screens, allowing for all participants to easily view seniors receiving their diplomas. Seniors and guests in the North lot, will tune their radios to 98.1 to listen to the broadcast. Families and guests parked in the South lot will tune to 98.9 to listen to the broadcast.
Idling
Cars can be kept on during the graduation ceremony to maintain a comfortable temperature. Please ensure your car is set to "recirculate" air to reduce the amount of vehicle exhaust that is let into the car during the ceremony.
Water
We highly recommend each attendee bring water to drink during the ceremony as the concession stand will NOT be available.
Facilities
To keep in accordance with state and local guidelines, we must keep the time attendees spend outside of the car to a minimum. We highly recommend everyone use the bathroom prior to their arrival at Showboat Drive-in Theater. There are restrooms available, but anyone outside of a vehicle MUST WEAR A MASK.
Flashlight
In the case that someone does need to use the facilities during the ceremony, we recommend bringing a flashlight. The terrain is uneven and gravel/dirt and could pose a tripping hazard.
Umbrella
It is possible that there will be rain during the ceremony. Should someone need to get out of the car to use the restroom, an umbrella may be necessary.
No Loitering
No one is allowed to visit another vehicle. Attendees are not to congregate outside of the restrooms, concession stands or vehicles themselves. Attendees must stay in their vehicles at all times.
Photography
A professional photo of each senior will be taken when he/she receives a diploma. Students will be allowed to remove their masks for this photo. Below you can review the photography package pricing or order your photos from Freeman's website.
Graduation Expectations
This is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020. And while this graduation ceremony is a different one, in a difficult and challenging time, this event remains a St. Pius X High School graduation ceremony and a traditional level of decorum and respect is expected.
Seniors (or family members) who are ill should not come to the graduation ceremony. Anyone with a persistent cough, fever or other symptoms should not attend.
The ceremony will be broadcast on the drive-in theater's large screens, allowing for all participants to easily view seniors receive their diplomas. There is not an opportunity to watch the graduation ceremony outside of the drive-in location, but we anticipate uploading the event to our website for individual viewing and family celebrations at a later time.
Graduation Dress Code
We want all students to look their very best for this event and, as a reminder, below are the St. Pius X student attire and grooming requirements for your review. This policy is outlined in the 2019-2020 St. Pius X Student Parent Handbook (pg. 31).
Men:
- Hair must be neatly groomed and of a natural color. Final judgment about what constitutes a "natural color" lies with a dean of students. Long hair is not permitted. Male students are expected to wear hair that does not touch the collar of the uniform shirt. Pony tails, man buns, top knots, sculptured hair, unnatural color highlights or hair jewelry are not allowed.
- Shaving: Men are to be cleanly shaven.
- Attire: Men are to wear dark dress pants, dark dress shoes (no boots, flip flops or tennis shoes) and socks, white dress shirts and dark ties.
- Earrings are not permitted for male students.
Women:
- Hair must be neatly groomed and of a natural color. Final judgment about what constitutes a "natural color" lies with a dean of students. Hair sculpting is not permitted.
- Attire: Women are to wear white dresses of modest length and style and wear white or nude/bone colored shoes. We strongly recommend flat, close-toed dress shoes as the drive-in has an uneven dirt/gravel parking lot. Flip flops and tennis shoes will not be permitted.
Graduation Arrival Information
