Caps and gowns are worn for both ceremonies. The gowns are rented and must be returned to the Herff Jones representative before leaving the Prince of Peace Catholic Church following graduation. The caps and tassels may be kept as souvenirs. We suggest that cap and gown pictures be taken before the graduation ceremony or immediately after the ceremony. Also, no air horns, bells, whistles or yelling is permitted during the graduation ceremony. The graduation ceremony takes place in a church and within the context of a Eucharistic liturgy.

Due to limited seating capacity and in compliance with the Houston fire code, admission tickets are required. Each senior will receive 10 admission tickets to distribute to family and friends who wish to attend.

If a student does not need all 10 tickets, we urge him/her to return the tickets not needed to Ms. Moratto on April 15, 2019.

St. Pius X School Board policy requires that all tuition, fees, and other charges be paid in full before taking final exams. All course requirements must be fulfilled prior to graduation. Students not fulfilling graduation requirements, including the required credits and service work will not be permitted to participate in graduation ceremonies. Caps and gowns will be issued on May 23 only if accounts are clear.

Senior Prom & Project Prom

Senior Prom

Friday, April 26, 2019
8 p.m. - Midnight
The Westin Memorial City
945 Gessner Rd., Houston TX 77024

Project Prom

Saturday, April 27, 2019
12:30 - 6 a.m.
Dave & Buster's
6010 Richmond Ave. Houston, TX 77057

With the senior prom on April 26 and graduation on May 25, please be aware of the city curfew for teenagers. The city ordinance states that anyone 17 or younger must be en route home if she/he is on the streets after midnight. Please keep this in mind as you plan curfews and after-graduation parties. We recommend that your sons/daughters not be permitted to attend unchaperoned parties such as those that take place in hotels, motels, beach houses, etc. Parents must remember that the law states it is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to drink alcohol in any form, and it is illegal to supply alcohol to underage students. The legal/liability issues connected with these actions are very serious.

St. Pius X High School, with the support of the senior parents, will host a Project Prom Celebration. The Project Prom Celebration will begin 12:30 a.m. at Dave and Buster’s on Richmond Ave. Students must ride one of the school buses from the prom at The Westin Memorial City to Dave and Buster’s. Students attending Project Prom are required to be picked up by a parent/guardian from Dave and Buster’s at 6 a.m. on April 27. Due to the ending time of Project Prom, we do not want your child driving home. Safety is our concern. If you have any questions about transportation, please contact Mr. Hornsby or Mrs. Ware.

The Project Prom Celebration should be a fun-filled, safe time for the seniors and a way to be together and continue their prom evening until 6 a.m. The Project Prom chaperones are the SPX faculty/staff and parents and guardians from the 2019 senior class. For the past 10 years our Project Prom celebrations have been very successful; therefore, we have made the commitment to have this event as part of our operating budget. Please encourage your son or daughter to attend. We hope you and your senior will support this fun and well-planned Project Prom and join with the St. Pius X High School community to keep your senior safe.
