Head of School Message

Welcome to St. Pius X High School!

With the opening of the 2016-17 academic year, I have assumed the mantle of Head of School at St. Pius X High School. While not a Dominican Sister, I am a part of the Dominican Family and it is in this spirit of St. Dominic that I am humbled and awed to lead the School at this important juncture in its history. On September 17, we celebrated 60 years since the Dominican Sisters of Houston first opened the school doors at the corner of Shepherd and Donovan. Three generations of students at SPX have been grounded in the Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Community and Preaching.

Since our founding in 1956, our vision for our students has remained the same: that young men and women grow into articulate, critical, life-long learners with a passion for social justice and a commitment to Veritas. We are recognized for our strong academic programs, our tradition of champions in athletics and fine arts, and our wide range of co-curricular activities.

Our School is celebrating change this academic year. This fall saw the opening of our much-anticipated White Family Center for the Sciences and Media. With the opening of this 27,000-square-foot building, our science curriculum will reflect today’s important STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Math) programming. The White Family Center will house a Media and Learning Commons, featuring a dedicated makerspace with a 3D printer. This new space will foster a sense of curiosity and creativity that will propel our students toward a 21st century model of learning and living.

This fall we also introduced the newest incarnation of our beloved Panther mascot, Beppo. We are confident that this new look, along with the new Raye G. and Edward P. White Family Center and the many other changes to our campus and staff, will generate a spirit of new life and energy as we thankfully celebrate the 60th Jubilee of our great School.

As you pass through the portals of this website, we hope you will be able to sense those unique qualities which make St. Pius X High School Houston’s premier coed Catholic high school. We hope you will visit us soon and find that your story starts here!
