In the fall of 1996, after nearly two decades of dormant silence, choral music returned to the Fine Arts curriculum of St. Pius X High School. That renaissance included nineteen choristers in total. Nine were seniors. Chorus and Campus Singers shared classroom 303 with Band, Theology, and Health classes. Every day included stacking and unstacking desks depending on the class in session. Another characteristic of the new choral program included chorus at “8th ” period which started at 7am daily, while Campus Singers rehearsed during 4th period. The spring semester of 1997 saw the debut of the Annual Spring Show production and featured a review of Broadway music performed by the Concert Chorale and Campus Singers.
This year as we observe our 60th Jubilee as a school community, A Year of Gratitude, we also celebrate our twentieth anniversary of outstanding and entertaining spring show productions by the award winning St. Pius X High School Concert Chorale, Campus Singers, and Treble Chorus. The company and I are very excited to bring to you FOLLIES, A MUSICAL REVIEW… of the last twenty years of spring show productions here at St. Pius X High School. The musical line-up includes selections from our previous Broadway, Hollywood, Swing, Jazz, shows. We will also include hits from our Gershwin, Rodgers, Disney, Casablanca, and Cole Porter shows to name only a few. Not only will you be Bewitched with favorites from past shows, you will also experience outstanding guest alumni artists in spotlight solos.
The evening begins with a sumptuous buffet meal catered by Chef Hector Salinas of Valley Services. After dinner the curtain rises on our show which features professional musicians, live orchestration, professional lighting, sound, and staging to transform our commons into a concert hall that thrills and delights our audiences and performers alike. It’s A Grand Night For Singing.
