"Proclaim the truth and do not be silent through fear!" - St. Catherine of Siena
The disturbing acts of racism and brutality heightened by the senseless death of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the many, many others before them is heartbreaking and leaves a deep wound in our community.
The community of St. Pius X High School stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of color. All people of faith and good will must condemn every form of racism, and foster a community rooted in unity and peace. As Dominicans we read the signs of the times and acknowledge the injustice which oppresses the life and liberty of individuals. Ours is a faith that proclaims truth and preaches justice, and we must not tire of the labor to reform and reconcile our community.
We invite you to join together with us as one family of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and parents/guardians united in prayer for those who have died in racial violence, for change, for reconciliation, and for all those who work for peace. The Mason Sebastian Ott '02 Memorial Prayer Garden will be open on Tuesday, June 9, from 9am until 6pm, for private prayer and meditation. As a community we make time to pray for understanding, for healing, for change. The time is now.
For the safety and well-being of all, we ask that all who come to pray please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.
As Veritas Men and Women we are called to Teach Truth and Preach Justice. Let us be animated by faith, fearless in hope, and steadfast in our love for one another.
