“SPX has inspired me to be me! It has taught me that every experience creates who you are. I have learned to give back to the School that has given so much to me. I plan to be involved in SPX even after I graduate.” - Jordan Barnett '08, Ms. Panther 2008
| The SPX FundWho Supports the SPX Fund? The SPX Fund is made up of annual gifts from alumni, parents—both current and past—SPX School Board Members, faculty, staff and friends of St. Pius X High School. All gifts to the Fund are unrestricted and support the general operating budget. Why is the SPX Fund Neccessary? The SPX Fund is the cornerstone of all fundraising for the School. Without it, the School would not be able to keep its doors open for the entire year. Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a student at St. Pius X. This year, the cost of educating one student at SPX is about $11, 085, while the cost of tuition is $9,500. In order to fulfill our commitment to diversity, the School strives to keep tuition as reasonable as possible. The nearly $1,600 difference must come from sources other than tuition. And so, SPX relies on the SPX Fund to supply the difference. The most significant contribution any of us can make to St. Pius X High School is a gift to the SPX Fund. Why Should I Give?- No gift is greater than a child’s education, a gift for life.
- Every dollar you contribute to the SPX Fund benefits each young man and woman who walks through the doors of St. Pius X. The Fund serves as a silent scholarship for every SPX student, keeping tuition lower than the actual cost of a St. Pius X education and allowing more families to send their children to a Dominican college preparatory school.
- Corporations and foundations—other sources of support for the School—look to the total percentage of participation in giving before choosing which proposals to fund.
- Your gift is tax deductible.
- You will be recognized in the Annual Report of Donors, SPX Fund newsletter and on the SPX Web site. If your gift is $1,500 or greater, you will be invited to a reception with the Head of School in the fall of 2010.
How are the Funds Utilized? The 2008-09 SPX Fund provided for these improvements to St. Pius X: - Upgrades of the School’s technology and communication systems
- Enhanced academic programming
- Improvements to campus security
- Maintenance of our grounds and facilities
Why Not Raise Tuition Instead of Soliciting Gifts?Implicit in the mission statement of St. Pius X High School is a dedication to diversity—cultural, demographic, economic and intellectual. The SPX Fund allows all members of the St. Pius X community to support our mission at a level at which they are comfortable. Higher tuition would not meet all of the on-going needs of the School. Tuition is not tax deductible; your gift to the SPX Fund is. How are the gifts recognized? Each gift to the SPX Fund is important, regardless of the amount. Giving circles and clubs were established to allow donors to feel connected with their peers, and to provide them with a sense of belonging to something special. The Leadership Council honors lead benefactors, who are the backbone of the SPX Fund. All individuals, companies and foundations are invited to become members of the Leadership Council by making a gift of $1,500 or more by July 31, 2010. All members of the Leadership Council are invited to a private reception with the Head of School at the beginning of the following school year. How Can I Give to the SPX Fund?- Cash/Check
