    What is the SPX Fund?
Formerly called the Annual Fund, the SPX Fund is made up of annual gifts from alumni, parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, SPX Board members, faculty, staff and friends of St. Pius X High School. All gifts are unrestricted and added to the School’s general operating budget.

Why is the SPX Fund necessary?
The SPX Fund is the cornerstone to all fund raising for the School. Without it, the School would not be able to keep its doors open for the entire school year. Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a student at St. Pius X. The cost to educate one student at SPX is $10,350. The cost for tuition is $8,600. The $1,750 difference (17% of the total cost) per student must be found through other funds. This is why the School depends on the SPX Fund each year. The most significant contribution any of us can make to St. Pius X High School is to the SPX Fund.

What are the goal of the SPX Fund and how are they utilized?
The 2007-08 SPX Fund goal is $250,000 and, therefore, needs 100% participation by parents, alumni, Board members, faculty and staff to meet this amount. In order to reach this goal, every family must give what they can.

The SPX Fund provides right now for the needs of our students in basic, yet essential ways through:

    Advancing safety and security provisions

Maintenance to the grounds and facilities

    Improving technology and hardware

Maintaining highly qualified faculty and staff

Why should I give to the SPX Fund?
Nothing is more important than a child’s education, which is a gift for life.

Every dollar you contribute to the SPX Fund benefits each young man and woman who walks through the doors of SPX. The Fund serves as the silent scholarship for every SPX student, keeping tuition lower than the actual cost of an SPX education and allowing more families to send their child to a Dominican, college-prep environment.

Corporations and foundations look to the total percentage of participation in giving before choosing who they will support.

    Your gift is tax-deductible.

Your gift can be matched by a matching gift employer and double or triple your total gift to the School.

You will be recognized in the SPX Fund Newsletter, the Annual Report, SPX website and Pius X News magazine. If your gift is $1,250 or more, you will be invited to a reception with the Head of School.

Why not raise tuition instead of solicit gifts?
That does not continue the mission of SPX. The SPX Fund allows all families, alumni and friends of the School to support the mission of the School at a level they feel comfortable with through their SPX Fund gift.

It would not solve the on-going needs the School faces.

Your tuition is not tax-deductible; but a gift to the SPX Fund is.

    How are gifts recognized?
Each gift to the SPX Fund is important regardless how large or small. Giving circles and clubs were established so donors would be connected to their peers and feel a sense of belonging to something special. The SPX Leadership Society honors lead benefactors of SPX, on whom the School relies as the backbone to the SPX Fund. All individuals, companies and foundations are invited to join as members by making a gift of $1,250 or more by July 31 to the SPX Fund. All members of the Society are invited to a reception with the Head of School at the beginning of the following school year.
